Lockheed F-104 Starfighter
The F-104 was developed after the Korean War as a high performance fighter. It
was not much of a success in U.S. service but was exported to our allies who
seemed to like it better. Major users included Canada, Germany, Italy and Turkey.
If it wasn't much of a combat aircraft, it sure was great at airshows!
Two restored F-104's taking off at an airshow at Randolph AFB, Texas in
2000.
These are civilian-owned and now used exclusively for airshow flying displays.

This and next two photographs: German F-104G.  The "Bavaria" markings are quite attractive and and is
the subject of model kits by Hasegawa. I look forward to adding this airplane to my collection.
