Early days of KC-10 operations.  Probably a Barksdale airplane photographed at Fairchild AFB in 1981.
Barksdale KC-10 with everything hanging out makes an airshow pass at RAF Mildenhall in 1986.
A March AFB based KC-10 taking off from its home base.  1988.
Diego Garcia, October 1987.  KC-10s from March and Barksdale were deployed in support
of Navy aircraft protecting oil takers in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war.
Above and Below:  Strategic Air Command was dismantled after the Cold War ended.  The bombers were sent to the Air Combat
Command and the tankers became part the Air Mobility Command, resulting in the light gray color scheme.
One of the above KC-10's in action over the Persian Gulf.  Mission of the day was refuelling Navy A-6E Intruders.
An A-6E moving into position for refuelling.  Photographs of a A-6E
taking on fuel from a KC-10 may be found on my
A-6 Intruder page.
This March AFB based KC-10 was on static display at an airshow at RAF Mildenhall.  1986.
I shot this kneeling between the pilot and copilot of another KC-10.
