The Su-15 is an air-defense interceptor that replaced earlier Su-9 and Su-11 aircraft. First flight of the T-58D-1 (Su-15 prototype) was
in May 1962. The Su-15 gained infamy in 1986 when a Su-15TM (Flagon-F) shot down a Korean Airlines Boeing 747 that strayed
over Soviet airspace.
