Mil Mi-8 (Hip)
The Mi-8 was originally planed as an improved version of the Mil Mi-4.  As development progressed, the
design evolved into a much larger and different helicopter.  First flight was in 1961 and in 1962 the design
was further improved by the addition of a second turbine engine.  Production started and it went into
service with Warsaw Pact countries in 1967.
