Hasegawa's new 1/32 P-40E is a most welcome addition to their excellent range of scale model aircraft kits. Prior to this the only 1/32 scale P-40E available was the old Revell offering, which dates back to 1966. While it was a fine kit in the 1960's, the Revell kit cannot hold up to the standards expected by scale model hobbyists nowadays.
Parts fit together very well and the way the parts break down indicate that Hasegawa plans other P-40 variants in the future. The completed model looks correct in shape and outline and surface detail is recessed and as fine as any I have ever seen. Kit decals provide markings for two different aircraft, one based in New Guinea, the other in China in 1942. I opted not to use the kit markings, and instead used aftermarket decals from Barracuda Studios to depict my model as "The Old Exterminator" flown by Colonel Robert L. Scott of "God Is My Co-Pilot" fame.
